Certainty we are all important, but that is not the approach you want to take when you are trying to set up your own network. Networking is one of the most important things any small business owner can do for themselves and their business if it is done right. If you were to poll some of the most successful business owners, I bet you would hear over and over again that old adage, “It’s not what you know, it’s who you know.” Isn’t that truth?

It doesn’t matter where you are in your career, whether you are just starting out with your first job, opening a small businesses, climbing the corporate ladder, whatever you are doing you want to surround yourself with like-minded people who can support your ambitions. People that can provide support and advice, and are positive and uplifting. These are  folks that have been there and can guide you to the right resources.

But that means YOU have to put yourself out there. You may not be the kind of person that can walk into a room and own it. But that’s ok. You just have to show up. “80% percent of success is just showing up,” said Woody Allen. Yep, he was right especially when it comes to networking. Put yourself out there. Go to social functions, business expos, and anywhere you can mingle with like-minded people.  Not only are you creating a network, but you’re raising your profile.

That is at the heart and soul of the Chamber. We give our businesses the opportunity to network and engage with other people, developing and expanding resources, making connections, and, yep, even friendships.

Join us on May 24th for another great Business Expo at Claytor Lake.
Work hard, be productive, and, above all else stay positive.
