Dear Member July 29, 2019 - Nominations

Believe it or not, we are more than half-way through 2019. That means it is time to think about the accomplishments of the business community and the people who have made significant changes, accomplished major feats, or made life better for the greater good. I can guarantee that the people who genuinely care about the welfare of the community and the effect of their business on the community are doing things for benevolent reasons and not for recognition or credit.

You may not even notice from whom, what, and where the ideas are coming, but frequently they are coming from those who work tirelessly in the background knowing that all they want is to get the job done and make a difference. They are the folks who may never be recognized for what they are doing, but they do it anyway. Benjamin Jowett, English clergyman and educator, once said, “The way to get things done is not to mind who gets the credit.” His quote was later paraphrased to “It is amazing what you can accomplish if you do not care who gets the credit." In this form, it has been attributed to several other leaders. However you say it, it’s true!

Yes, 2019 has been an incredible year for many reasons, including the start of the new middle school, ACCE, several significant expansion announcements, state-wide recognition for the incredible lifestyle offerings, the emergence of new businesses, and the transformation of old. We have seen the opening of a behavioral health unit at the hospital; we have one of the most technically advanced pharmacies in the state of Virginia; and our economic development officials have traveled all over the WORLD to introduce Pulaski County.

Our businesses and industries support our public school system in a way that is head and shoulders above any other area I have ever seen, and our tourism businesses continue to evolve and offer phenomenal experiences. People need to be recognized for what they do, so take a minute to think about all these GREAT people and businesses that make up the Pulaski County Chamber of Commerce and which ones deserve to be acknowledged. Go to the Pulaski County Chamber of Commerce Facebook page or the link below to nominate that person or business now. We look forward to getting your nominations!
