Dear Member, May 20, 2019- Networking

Networking is a critical element for any organization or business. If you don’t take steps to get the word out about your organization or business, no one is going to know you’re there. It’s up to you and you alone. In 2018, we noticed an important sector of the community that was missing key networking opportunities. We wanted to close that gap and started a group called Inspiring Pulaski County Chamber Women.

When we first approached it, our intention was to create a comfortable atmosphere where a group of working could come together to network. From there it took off. Women wanted to hear from strong women that could relate to today’s women’s issues. Some of these outstanding women have been Dr. Pat Huber, Pastor Pat Farley, Deborah Bell from the Attorney General’s office, former delegate Annie B Crockett Stark, Agnieszka Fafara, and many more. Thanks to them for sharing their time, energy, strengths, weaknesses, and, most of all for just sharing.

Of course, I can’t speak for the other women, but when you hear from a man or woman that can stand up in front of a group of people and can show their vulnerabilities on their sleeve, that is strength and power, not to exploit their own weaknesses but for the purpose of empowering others. That is powerful. Whether it’s their strength or pure moxie, it makes it okay to have weaknesses. It shows the listeners what great leaders look like. Great leaders grow from their weaknesses; poor leaders make excuses and pass the buck. There is nothing harder in this world then to put yourself out there and say, hey, I’ve messed up. But, thanks to these great women for sharing their experiences, and for saying we know it’s alright. At one time or another we all have messed up, and, look the world didn’t end. Life goes on.

Inspiring Pulaski County Chamber Women will meet June 12th (the second Wednesday of the month) from 8:00 till 9:00 a.m. this month we will meet at the Dublin Town Center have some coffee and donuts, catch up and enjoy hearing from our June speaker, Dr. Kristen Kirk, talking about women in non-profits.
Work hard, be productive, and, above all else, stay positive.
