Dear Member October 28, 2019 - Sense of Accomplishment

I am feeling good! I’m riding a natural high, the kind you get when you feel that incredible sense of accomplishment when a dream becomes a plan and then becomes reality. It’s that feeling of success when you make that sale you’ve been working on for a year, or you put the final elements together for a project that has been years in the making. It’s that feeling of success and knowing you did it right, and you accomplished the mission.

That’s what I’m feeling right now after a truly great event last Saturday, the Randolph Park Jack O’ Lantern Spectacular. Frankly, it surpassed all of our expectations. What made it such a good event? Let me count the ways! Start with the people who brought it all together. Leading that list would be Shay Dunnigan, the County Director of Parks and Recreation, assisted by Chamber staffers. Pulaski County elementary schools, the Pulaski County High School Career and Technology Center, and the Pulaski County Department of Economic Development were joined by representatives of over twenty businesses and organizations in the day’s festivities for the community. Oh, and the community turned out! Over 3,200 people - children, their parents, and friends - had a great day in the park!

Corporate leadership for this event came from the civic-minded folks at James Hardy. Thank you, one and all!

The Chamber puts on numerous events all with a purpose: Manufacturing Day, Business after Hours, golf tournaments, seminars, Candidates Forum, legislative dinner, etc. You get the idea. Sure it takes planning, organization, and commitment. But most importantly, it is about the character of the event and maintaining the mission and purpose of our community-based Chamber of Commerce. You can plan, you can have the most organized event, but if everyone is not 100% committed to the mission, then none of the rest matters. Saturday, we had a plan, we had commitment, and we had fun! Thanks go to all who made the day.

Work hard, be productive, and, above all else stay positive.
