Dear Member September 23, 2019 - In a Rut

  • Share:
I feel like I’m in a rut and I need to get myself re-energized! Typically, when I feel I need to get my mojo going, I try to do something new. Sometimes I visit a new place, try a new food, or read a new book. Usually that will do the trick. But not this time. I started feeling like I needed more energy, and I've been unable to really get into the task at hand. So, I've started paying attention to how I am handling my ability to focus.

We often forget what the major role focus plays on our success, although we typically recognize an intensity of focus in others. For example, we recognize the effort to focus seen in the football player with headphones on, listening to music before he goes on the field. This is a strategy that most major athletes have learned to employ while preparing for the game. Focus also plays a critical role in business.

In business, focus can make the difference between being productive and not being productive. It really comes down to managing distractions. When you don't focus your attention, it effects your ability to correctly analyze and react appropriately to situations around you. Focus is the key to being able to think effectively and to maintain your concentration.

According to Steve Jobs, “Simple can be harder than complex: You have to work hard to get your thinking clean to make it simple. But it’s worth it in the end because once you get there, you can move mountains.” As we head into this week, let's each work hard to figure out our clear and concise focus and put our energy into achieving what we have named as our clearly stated focus. I'm feeling better already! Let's all enjoy a focused, productive, and successful week!

Work hard, be productive, and above all else stay positive.
